There are times that the creative elements come together as a team and we create simple magic.  This happened to us at the end of a long shoot.  Our model Robyn’s beauty was soft, pure and elegant.  I had a hat in my wardrobe and that with a section of black sheer fabric, a pair of white tights and black platform pumps were all that was needed to frame her beauty.  Against a clean white backdrop an editorial was spontaneously born. Here is a spread from magazine:

Here are a few more. Great job on everyone’s part.

My Night Porter 2012

It is every photographer’s dream when light, form, model’s mood, makeup and hair all take centre stage seamlessly to replicate exactly what had been a dormant vision in photographer’s mind.  This look was one of those moments.  Well it was actually a bit of a whim of the moment setup where I had the hat and the minimal wardrobe.  With my assistant, Luca Mercuriano, we quickly threw together a navy blue velour backdrop and a chest in front of it.  The lighting was a different story.  I wanted it to be dark and very moody.  When it comes to beauty and fashion photography I continue to be inspired by old movies and in this case I am referring to The Night Porter.  This Film has always played a DNA type role in my creative direction.   So we had this low key mood lighting with Luca operating radio controlled flare guns dressed up with CTB gels.  The pictures you see here are hardly edited.  What came out of camera was untouchable!  The fifteen minute shoot was a dance between the Model, the MUA, the hair stylist, and the photographer.  I have to say that I am so proud of Jenna for fitting the bill and posing it to a tee.  She was beautiful, mysterious and so talented.  Hats off again and again to my team, David Buriev on hair and Cherry of Surekha Artistry our MUA.  I have been working with Cherry for a while and this was her last session with me as she is moving to Edmonton.  I am sad to see her leave but I know that her work will bless photographers wherever she goes. I would like to take this occasion and thank Cherry for her top notch contribution as my MUA on various projects.  All the best!

And now without any further ado, I would like to present you My Night Porter 2012.
